“Be glad, people of (Canada),
rejoice in the Lord your God,
for he has given you the autumn rains of righteousness...” Joel 2:23
I'm back in Canada! It's autumn and it's raining! Just left Israel, after celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles - the feast where on the last day "Yeshua stood and said in a loud voice, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink" (John 7:37). His promise for those who came, remains the same today - "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them" (v38).
In 1948 Israel was reinstated as a nation and there was a revival, called the Latter Rain, which impacted the world. According to The Jesus Fast, "God responded to the fasts of 1945-1948 with healing revivals, global outpourings and the launch of what became some of the most effective evangelistic ministries for decades; critically, the modern state of Israel was also founded in 1948." p55
Canada definitely has a part to play! Just look at this historical time link between the two nations! Providence? "In 1948 a mighty outpouring of the Spirit had broken out in North Battleford, Canada; later named the Latter Rain, this outpouring saw the gifts of the Holy Spirit renewed in a special way" (p29).
"The Jesus Fast is both a war manual and global summons, but ultimately and primarily it is a book of hope... Our part is to turn toward Him, but our “appeal to heaven” (in the words of Dutch Sheets) is most effective when combined with massive, corporate prayer and fasting. Biblically, this is the divine reset button, the spiritual chiropractic adjustment that aligns earth with heaven... Herein lies the possibility of revival in every generation" (p18).
But what is revival?
"It's not an empty people speaking to the Father, praying like deprived orphans when they are really sons and daughters with a full inheritance. It's not about asking God to send down more of the Holy Spirit; we're asking God to help us live our lives in such a way that the Spirit is granted permission to be released through us in a greater demonstration. It's not about more of God coming down from heaven; it's about more of God coming out of His people and being visibly manifested in the earth... It all begins and ends with hunger." p16, Ask For the Rain
"Revival, at its core, is the dynamic demonstration of New Testament Christianity" (p13).
"The Latter Rain lies at the roots of the modern day worship movement. It was also critical in catapulting the fledgling Pentecostal movement into broader worldwide significance by the demonstration of mighty gifts of the Spirit, setting the stage for the charismatic and Jesus movements yet to come. If Azusa restored tongues and unity (however briefly), the Latter Rain brought forth an understanding of dimensions of God’s glory and His manifested presence. Prophetic revelation, along with the restoration of words of knowledge and words of wisdom, became part of a fresh influx of the Spirit of God by which countless ministries were positioned to equip future saints - ministries that continue today." p30, The Jesus Fast
What a time to be alive in history! It's 70 years since Israel was reinstated and 70 years since the Latter Rain! Hear Kirk's thoughts on the upcoming gathering in North Battleford.
